Thank you for your highly educated breakdown of the scientific study. You really have exposed RFK Jr. as a fraud on the American people. Our health should not be left to his scientific ignorance. He is dangerous.

RFK Jr’s ignorance on every level is a horror. He had no idea what EMTALA was nor that the agency charged to enforce it would be under his direction. He answered “I don’t know” when asked if a woman bleeding out from a miscarriage is entitled to life saving care in a state where abortion is illegal. HE DOESN’T KNOW!? 🤬

Scientists will leave the US.

This is a great write up!

This is unfortunately a talking point that my peers in graduate school are talking about every day. All of us microbiology and virology students (master’s and PhD candidates) think that there won’t be any jobs for us in the US when we graduate this May. Many of us are looking at the international job market to apply to over next few months.

Fantastic read and explanation of the studies. Thank you for not having this behind a paywall

As someone with an autoimmune condition for the last 30 years, my response to all of this is deeply personal. Your writing is amazing—clear and straightforward on a topic that is anything but! I didn’t know our immune systems were so individually variable, and that’s a hopeful thing. You highlight here, with this clip and your explanation, something I haven’t been able to understand, which is, why did they nominate RKF jr? Apart from the “let’s sow chaos” factor, it’s because he’s a racist promoting eugenics. While populations do have meaningful differences in biology, what we call race ain’t one of them. He’s a racist.

Deeply appreciate the clarity you brought to this.

My husband and I are seniors and have had all Covid vaccinations and boosters. We are as healthy as ever. No bad effects. My brother almost died from Covid because he didn't get vaccinated.

100% Agreement with Cat Mo and Lynn Glover! How do we keep RFK out?

Call (ideal) or write to your senators and let them know what you think. Get your friends and family to do the same. We need as many people as possible putting pressure on their senators, especially if your representatives might be on the fence/persuadable.

Well said “This means that scientists make their careers in a pressure cooker of fighting each other and exposing anyone blocking, bastardizing, or abusing the truth”. This is why scientists and experts in other fields must speak out . Thank you for doing so

This is really great. I would love to see what you have to say about raw milk. Because they are trying to legalize off farm sales in my home state, Arkansas. Considering H5N1 is in the milk supply, this is an awful idea. Mark McAfee, who RFK Junior just hired, would be a great person to hear some of these arguments from.

Bacterial contamination, rather than viral, is more of a concern with raw milk. E. Coli, Listeria, Salmonella and Camopylobacter can kill people. Listeria can cause pregnant women to miscarry (so you’d this would concern the GOP). If non-pasteurized milk consumption increases though, it could be a factor in spread of H5N1. I’m afraid this administration won’t allow testing, so we won’t know.

H5N1 has infected thousands of dairy herds across the US. We’re approaching 200 million birds culled. I think it is a monumental risk.

I won’t pretend to understand the science, but I do believe RFK Jr’s family when they say he’s nuts and unfit and dangerous. And the fact that he was nominated by the man currently engaged in scorched earth politics on our country doesn’t help.

This was perfect and made total sense! People like RFK Jr love to cherry-pick information from studies in an attempt to bolster their outlandish and harmful claims.

I found your discussion of HLA so helpful. I have Psoriatic Arthritis and was told I have an HLA-B23 gene. No one ever explained what it was, except “you have Psoriatic Arthritis”. No one in my family has the health issues I’ve have, so I guess I’m the gene pool outlier.
